I Got the Call!!

by Nola on March 25, 2011

Last November I submitted my entry manuscript — The Tycoon and Nature Girl — to The Golden Heart®  Writing competition, the most prestigious writing contest for unpublished romance authors. I’ve been having such a good time writing erotic short stories under my pseudonym that I almost forgot I had entered. But a few days ago I noticed a little flutter in my stomach when I thought about the GH. That flutter told me I was more anxious than I was letting myself believe. I wanted to final. I wanted to win. I wanted to write contemporary series romance for Harlequin. It’s always been my dream. Still, I was determined that if I didn’t final, I’d just go on writing erotic shorts, and all would be well. A win-win, as they say.

But this morning early I received my call from Nashville. I’m a finalist! I’M A FINALIST! Slowly it is sinking in.

Now I’m scrambling to figure out what to do next. The winner will be announced at the RWA National Convention on July 1st. That gives me three months to parlay this honor of being a finalist into something more.  Stay tuned.
