Bring on the Spring

Image result for douglas irisI don’t know about you, but the current political climate in our country has sure been distracting me, to the point that very few words are ending up on the page these days. Everfield Book One – Making Merri is still being revised from a 35,000-word novella into 70,000-word novel. I’m drafting new sections, chopping out stuff that no longer belongs, and revising what can be saved. It’s a challenging process. I’m actually finding it much more difficult than drafting a whole new novel from scratch.

Around our place, Spring has finally come. It’s later than usual this year. Normally, a week before Mother’s Day the little Douglas Iris flowers pop up in the grass along the road side. This year I have yet to see one. But our smallĀ orchard has bloomed and the bees came, so maybe things are not completely out of whack.

I hope you’re not letting the political noise keep you from reading and enjoying all the new books being offered. There’s nothing like a romantic escape to make you forget about real life for a little while.
