It’s FitBit Love!

20150330_132659I’ve been hearing about FitBits for months. At first I was on the fence. I already had a basic pedometer, and my step count each day was miserably low. Having a desk job, I wondered if there was any way to work any significant number of steps into my day. Would it really be worth the expense? ┬áThen a friend of mine told me he’d lost 20 pounds in a month just by setting a daily steps goal and taking mini walks through out the day until he met that goal. That impressed me, and it seemed workable. Finally, I watched an episode of Pioneer Woman — my idol! — and even she talked about using the FitBit to increase her exercise and lose weight. I was sold.

So with my last royalty check, I invested in a Fitbit Charge, which I’ve now worn for about a week. I have met my daily steps goal 4 times, and each time I feel the buzzing congratulations on my wrist, it’s like a little celebration happens in my body. Yes! I’m doing it! I’m actually moving, and I’m moving more than that old pedometer was capturing. I’ve bumped up my daily goal to 5,000 steps. For me, that’s a lot of walking. And I’ll keep increasing it until I hit 10,000.

Now, what I really want to know is when someone is going to invent a “WriteBit”. LOL.

Great job, Nola. I’ve been thinking of getting one myself. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Susan. Thanks for stopping by. I think you’d really like the little “pal” on your wrist. You can increase steps at your own pace and measure other stuff like food and sleep. It’s fascinating. Let me know if you get one.
