Autumn Magic

20131016_085309We’ve had a week of glorious autumn weather here in our neck of the woods. Chilly nights, crisp mornings, amazing blue-sky days. September and October are my favorite months. Every year I ooh and ahh over the changing colors of the foliage, and I’m certain the trees have never been that spectacular before.

On our property, we have mostly firs, and not any really colorful trees, but the autumn is still beautiful here. This morning I took a walk up the drive with our dog, Kiki, and admired how the sunrise made halos in the moss on the fir trees. It’s a more delicate, less showy kind of autumn beauty. Afterward, I started my breakfast off with a Fuji apple picked right from the tree. It was so cold and crisp and juicy I gasped. Yes, I had to eat around a few worms holes, but since we like our produce unsprayed, I didn’t mind at all. We planted that little tree seventeen springs ago when we first moved here. This is the first year the apples have been exceptional. It was worth the wait!

This was a great week for me as a fledgling author. I finished my novella — A Home for My Heart — and got it formatted and sent off with the two other novellas that will be in our Christmas anthology, Candlelight and Kisses. Writing pals Kaylie Newell and Pepper Anthony and I are so excited to be working together, and there’s nothing better than a heartfelt Christmas story or three. C&K will be released November 11th. ¬†As we get closer to that date, I’ll post some snippets from my story.

Thanks for reading. I hope you have a wonderful week!

This is my favorite time of year. There’s nothing like apples right off the tree! Can’t wait for Candlelight and Kisses. Christmas stories are my absolute favorite!
