Out My Writing Window ~ August 14, 2013

Kiki in the lane 8-14-13Hello readers. My big thrill is that I recently upgraded my cellphone to a smart phone. That’s right — I’ve finally joined the 21st century. It’s a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 – a beautiful piece of equipment with lots of bells and whistles that will take me forever to learn. One thing that IS easy to work with, though, is the camera. And I’m so pleased with the quality of the photos!
This morning was one of those warm, still, August mornings that we remember longingly in the middle of winter. The little bit of mist in the air had not yet burned away, and I decided the lighting was just right for some photos around our place. Kiki, our Aussie-Collie, went with me, and we were shortly joined by all three cats.
Here is a shot of what we call “The Lane”. It cuts up through the middle of our three acres, and is actually an easement for the power company. Hubby Tom recently rented a brush hog, and cleared much of the salal and fern and long grasses from our land that had made it so lush and wild looking, and provided homes for dozens of brush rabbits and a place for the deer to bed down. ┬áIt looks so bare now! I much prefer the wild look. I’m sure it will all grow back in no time. Nature has a way of reclaiming what is rightfully hers.
I’ve been working all this week on my story for the Christmas anthology. It’s really coming together. I’m anxious to share the title and cover, but that won’t be until October some time.
Thanks for joining me this morning! Have a great week.
